Sponsored by The Deacons – Sunday, November 21, 2021 – Sunday, December 12, 2021
Share the spirit and joy of Christmas with families in need by filling a stocking for a child. The Deacons provide the Christmas stockings, which are distributed to children through Luminus (formerly FIRN) and the Salvation Army.
Stockings will be available for pick up in the Lower Commons starting on Sunday, November 21; all stockings must be returned no later than Sunday, December 12.
Luminus requests efforts to be gender neutral, noting the need to be flexible. Since many of the families lack basic needs, they ask that the stockings’ contents be practical and celebratory.
Items can include:
- toiletries – tooth brushes & tooth paste, combs & brushes
- hats, mittens/gloves
- picture frame
- pens / pencils / markers
- small games / toys
- books / activity books (Based on the families being of many faiths and agnostic, Luminus kindly requests that they are not religious-themed.)
If you would like further information, please speak with Deacons Genevieve Simermeyer, Sarah Reinhardt, Therese Ngini Bikoi, or Jean Fantcho. If you are unable to come to the church building to pick up a stocking, but would like to participate, please email firstname.lastname@example.org and we can help get you signed up.
A heartfelt thank you to Faithful Circle Quilters for making the stockings. And, thank you to the congregation in advance for your participation!
Thank you for making a child smile on Christmas!
