The Cold Weather Shelter is the same as last year due to COVID. For the entire 17 weeks, the guests will again be at the Extended Stay America Hotel, 8870 Columbia 100 Parkway. Our church is responsible for providing 2 people each evening from 5:30–7:00 p.m. to deliver packaged dinners to the guest’s rooms.
There will be a Grassroots Staff person there also. Everyone (guests, volunteers, and staff) is required to wear masks and practice social distancing. We will have limited contact with the guests. However, I suggest that church volunteers be vaccinated against COVID. Meals will be catered by Absolutely Perfect Catering who has done a fantastic job with Feed Howard County. Our church needs to contribute about $4000 to cover the meals and laundry for the week for 34 guests, including 12 children. Please consider what you might have spent in preparing a casserole or a roast and how much you value NOT having to spend the night at church or scrubbing bathrooms and give accordingly!
