SUMMER ADVENTURES FOR A LIFETIME –
Being Camp Counselors for Kids with Disabilities

Scot Yarborough and Larry Johnson

Sunday, October 23, 11:30 a.m. in Branch Hall

Come listen and interact with Scot Yarborough and Larry Johnson as they share their mostly true stories from long ago as summer camp counselors and campers at South Carolina’s Burnt Gin and Mill Creek camps for children with disabilities. Burnt Gin and Mill Creek camps were segregated until 1965 (Burnt Creek was for whites while Mill Creek was for blacks.) Larry will share recollections from the days he was a camper at Mill Creek at the end of its segregated era.
Larry and Scot will give us their key observations from their days working at Camp Burnt Gin.
